I love helping children and their families identify and make sense of their challenges and how their strengths and supports can be leveraged to engage in the activities that are meaningful to them. I value operating in a collaborative, strength-based way, and am skilled in using play-based approaches and occupational performance coaching to empower young people and their families.

Key interest area: Attention challenges 

​​​Jessie has experience working with children with a range of acquired and developmental disabilities and delays, including acquired brain injury, stroke, vision impairment (blindness and low vision), ADHD, global developmental delay, Rhett syndrome, anxiety, autism (including those with a PDA profile), developmental coordination disorder (dyspraxia) and dysgraphia.

In her spare time Jessie enjoys playing field hockey, baking and camping. â€‹

Therapy style: Play-based | Collaborative | Strengths Oriented

I am passionate about empowering children and their families to achieve their full potential! I use a collaborative and strength-based approach to help clients identify difficulties and work with them to support their child’s needs so they can have optimal participation in activities that are meaningful to them. I love to bring new perspectives, skills and knowledge to my clients, and value providing utmost client-centred and high-quality care. It is important for me to support children in an evidenced-based way, whilst prioritising fun and creativity! 

​

Key interest area: Emotional Regulation | Functional Fine Motor Skills 

Emily has experience with working with children and young people with varying developmental delays and disabilities. She has a strong interest in working in early intervention, particularly younger children from two to six years old, as they journey through the milestones of transitioning from home, kindergarten and into early primary school.​​​

​

In her spare time Emily enjoys playing with her dog (Mimi), listening to music and spending time with her family.​

Gab is currently studying her Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours) at the University of Queensland. Through her work as an instructor with Riding for the Disabled, a school tutor and netball coach she has experience working with children from all ages with varying developmental delays and disabilities.

 

Gab strongly believes in making therapy sessions fun, and willing to be messy or silly to do so!​ In Gab's spare time she likes riding her horse Ned, camping, playing rugby, AFL and netball, and getting lost in a good book!

Julia Meliendrez

Practice Manager

Julia has been working part-time with Skye Therapy since 2023. She has a Cert III in Business and various administrative experiences. Julia's role at Skye Therapy covers many areas including finance, invoicing, bookings, HR and any other admin duties. She values creating a welcoming environment to all families and her goal is to make each client experience smooth, genuine and easy.

​

 Julia has 2 kids and when/if she has spare time she likes to spend time with her family, reading and gardening.
